GTA 6 Online & Multiplayer

Single-player at launch. Here's exactly what has been said about multiplayer — and by whom.

Direct answer

GTA 6 releases single-player only on November 19, 2026. Take-Two confirmed on September 17, 2026 that GTA Online — the GTA 5 mode — will continue to be supported "after GTA VI release and beyond". A GTA 6 multiplayer mode has no announced date; a 2027 window has been reported second-hand, not confirmed by Rockstar.

Why a staggered online launch is likely

GTA Online did not ship with GTA 5 either — it arrived roughly two weeks after the September 2013 console launch, and Red Dead Online followed RDR2 by about a month in beta form. Rockstar's pattern is to stabilise the single-player launch first, then open the servers. Nothing here is a promise about GTA 6; it is context for why "not at launch" is normal.

What to ignore

Leaked "GTA Online 2" feature lists, subscription prices and beta sign-up pages circulating on social platforms have no verified source. Nothing about GTA 6 multiplayer pricing, progression carry-over from GTA Online, or player counts has been announced.
