Rockstar's 26-minute in-game gameplay showcase premiered on Netflix, then hit YouTube. Here's every confirmed detail.
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026 at 12pm PDT and reached YouTube six hours later. The 26-minute video was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5 and confirmed a karma system, a returning six-star wanted level, a tracked Jason–Lucia relationship system, RDR2-style NPC interactions and instant character swapping. Rockstar also published a 14.2GB 4K download of the video. GTA 6 still launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no PC date announced.
Everything confirmed
An on-screen karma indicator swings positive when Jason pets a dog and negative as Lucia escapes a store heist. Rockstar hasn't explained what karma feeds into.
The sixth star is visible in the HUD — the first time since GTA: San Andreas. GTA 5 capped at five.
Jason and Lucia's romance is tracked separately from criminal reputation. Hang out to keep it healthy; ignore texts and it suffers. The deeper romance mechanics are opt-out.
When the pair are together, control switches between them instantly — drive as one, jump to the passenger seat as the other. Apart, it takes a few seconds with a GTA 5–style transition.
Hold a trigger near an NPC and pick a prompt to greet, antagonise or defuse — the Red Dead Redemption 2 interaction wheel, in Vice City.
Shooting looks far more cover-oriented and less reliant on hard lock-on than either GTA 5 or RDR2.
Jason weaves through a packed nightclub — crowd density in hotspots is a visible generational jump.
Waiting on the couch, Jason picks a beer from the fridge and watches full-screen in-game adverts on TV.
Track races, jet skis, weightlifting and scuba diving all appeared in the montage, on top of the previously confirmed fishing, hunting, MMA and mini-golf.
Rob Nelson confirmed Rockstar explored four playable leads and scrapped it to avoid diluting player connection with each character.
The leaks that came first
Gameplay clips from an apparent playable build began circulating in the week of August 17, 2026. Take-Two filed legal proceedings in a New York court on August 21, and Rockstar publicly confirmed the footage was genuine on August 26, calling the leak "heartbreaking for our team" and warning that spoilers may have affected the intended experience. The company also said the game is nearly finished.
