Jason and Lucia's bond is a tracked gameplay system — and it's optional.

GTA 6's relationship system tracks Jason and Lucia's bond separately from criminal reputation. Players maintain it by spending time together outside missions — pool, mini-golf, kayaking, or robbing stores and banks as a pair. Ignoring your partner's texts damages it. Rockstar's Rob Nelson confirmed players can opt out of the deeper romance mechanics.
Confirmed by Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson around the August 27, 2026 Extended Look. The story keeps the two together for most of the plot regardless of how the meter sits, but shared activities and responsive texting are the levers players actually control.
