GTA 6 file size & storage

The standard edition is reported at 210GB on PS5. Here's what to clear before pre-load opens on November 12, 2026.

Direct answer

GTA 6's standard edition is reported as a 210GB download on PS5, based on PlayStation Store data shared on October 27, 2026 and corroborated by Insider Gaming. Rockstar hasn't published an official figure. Keep about 250GB free for the download plus a day-one patch before pre-load opens at midnight local time on November 12, 2026.

Reported

Console by console

PlayStation 5825GB drive · ~667GB usable
210GB is about a third of usable space — expect to remove two or three large games.
PlayStation 5 Slim / Pro1TB / 2TB drive
Comfortable headroom; still plan the space before November 12.
Xbox Series X1TB drive · ~802GB usable
Enough room if you clear a couple of big installs.
Xbox Series S512GB drive · ~364GB usable
210GB is more than half the usable drive — you may need an expansion card or a near-empty drive.

For scale

GTA 5 (current-gen)~94GB
Red Dead Redemption 2~150GB
Call of Duty (recent entries)~150–230GB
GTA 6 standard (reported, PS5)210GB + day-one patch

The 676GB claim is a hoax

A screenshot claiming an "Xbox-confirmed" 676.7GB install size went viral in 2026. It is fabricated — no storefront listing has ever shown that figure. Ignore any file size that isn't on an official PlayStation Store or Xbox product page.

How to prepare

  1. Check your free space now, not on November 12 — clearing 250GB takes time.
  2. Move rarely played games to an external USB drive instead of deleting them.
  3. On Series S, consider a Storage Expansion Card; GTA 6 must run from internal or expansion storage, not USB.
  4. Start pre-load at midnight local time on November 12 to avoid launch-week congestion.
