What happened
Rockstar Games premiered 'Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look' on Netflix at 12pm PDT on Thursday, August 27, 2026 — the first official gameplay footage of GTA 6. The 26-minute video was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5 and blended mission scenes, cutscenes and system demonstrations. Netflix buckled briefly under demand as the premiere started. After a six-hour exclusivity window the full video went live on Rockstar's YouTube channel, and Rockstar additionally published a 14.2GB 4K download of the video for frame-by-frame study. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had told Bloomberg ahead of the event that there was 'reasoning' behind the Netflix debut. Sources: PC Gamer, The Verge, WIRED, NBC News — August 27, 2026.
